Visegrad Scholarship Program

The International Visegrad Fund offers Master’s and Post-Master’s scholarships awarded to selected scholars for periods of 1 or 2 semesters (with the exception of Master’s scholarships within the In-Coming scheme where 1- to 4-semester scholarships can be awarded). Given the annual budget of EUR 1,448,000, the Fund will award about 400 semesters in total in the academic year 2010/2011 (more information).

Open to students from CEE and SEE countries
Scholarship: covered tuition and 2300 euros scholarship

Applicants whose university or employer at the time of applying is further than 1,500 km from the selected host university/institute are eligible for a travel grant (applying for the travel grant will be possible in the 2010 application form).

Citizens of the following countries can apply: Albania (AL), Armenia (AM), Azerbaijan (AZ), Belarus (BY), Bosnia and Herzegovina (BA), Croatia (HR), the Czech Republic (CZ), Georgia (GE), Hungary (HU), Macedonia (MK), Moldova (MD), Montenegro (ME), Poland (PL), the Russian Federation (RU), Serbia (RS), Slovakia (SK) and Ukraine (UA). The same rules are applicable to Kosovar scholars.

The scholarship does not apply for, nor does it cover entire studies within joint programs (double or multiple degree). The scholarship does not cover studies/reseach at other institutions or in other countries than those specified in the application form (host university/institution). The scholars are expected to work on their study/research projects at the host university/institution (in the host country) for the entire scholarship period.

All applicants must have finished at least 4 semesters of university at the time of applying.

The following scholarship schemes are available:

. Intra-Visegrad Scholarships
for scholars coming from one of the V4 countries (CZ, HU, PL or SK) who plan to study in any V4 country other than that of their citizenship (at accredited universities or institutes of the respective national academies of sciences)
Successful applicants within this scheme will receive scholarships of EUR 2,300/semester and the corresponding host universities/institutes receive EUR 1,500/semester/scholar

. Out-Going Scholarships
for outstanding students or Master’s degree holders from V4 countries to study at acknowledged universities or institutes of the respective national academies of sciences in AL, AM, AZ, BY, BA, HR, GE, MK, MD, ME, RS and UA
(Please note that the same rules are applicable to Kosovar universities.)
Successful applicants within this scheme will receive scholarships of EUR 2,300/semester and the corresponding host universities/institutes receive EUR 1,500/semester/scholar

. In-Coming Scholarships
for outstanding scholars who wish to study at accredited universities or institutes of the respective national academies of sciences in V4 countries and who are citizens of the following countries:
AL, AM, AZ, BY, BA, HR, GE, MK, MD, ME, RU, RS and UA
(Please note that the same rules are applicable to Kosovar scholars.)
Successful applicants within this scheme will receive scholarships of EUR 2,300/semester and the corresponding host universities/institutes receive EUR 1,500/semester/scholar

. Scholarship Program for Belarusian Students
for scholars coming to the V4 countries from Belarus (altogether 60 semesters annually)
Successful applicants within this scheme will receive scholarships of EUR 2,300/semester and the corresponding host universities/institutes receive EUR 1,500/semester/scholar


. Scholarship Program for Ukrainian Students

for scholars coming to the V4 countries from Ukraine (altogether 60 semesters annually)
Successful applicants within this scheme will receive scholarships of EUR 2,300/semester and the corresponding host universities/institutes receive EUR 1,500/semester/scholar
If selected the scholars receive the scholarship funding at the beginning of each five-month period upon a written confirmation from the host university/institution (see Article 4 of the Contract).
