University of Sarajevo

sarajevo_logoThe University of Sarajevo is the oldest university in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it is also the largest B&H University, with more than 40,000 enrolled students. With over 80 agreements on cooperation with universities around the globe and membership in important international organizations, UNSA expects to intensify mobility and make it possible for our academic citizens to demonstrate their qualities on an international scale and to improve themselves through such contacts. In the University’s development strategy, which is present in all aspects of higher education, mobility is recognized as a strategic goal towards which many efforts are aimed, especially the implementation of the Bologna Process and participation in international projects.

How to apply

The majority of courses and study programmes are in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and the  candidate needs to have some level of knowledge of the host country’s language before  arrival.
However, there are cases where complete study programmes are in English (Center for  Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies and The Sarajevo Business School – undergraduate  and postgraduate joint studies of the School of Economics and Business Sarajevo and  Griffith College Dublin, Faculty of Business) or where some courses can be provided in  English (since professors are willing to enable consultations, literature or exams in  English).
Students have to explore these options individually. This is a very important step, since it  will be one of the major considerations when candidates’ applications are evaluated by the host institution.
Therefore, before or during their application for exchange period, candidates are advised  to contact the administration of a specific faculty or department and ask for course  descriptions they are interested in as well as to enquire about the language of instruction  and other conditions for academic mobility.
The faculties comprising the University of Sarajevo offer a variety of study programmes  on Bachelor, Master and Doctoral level. In order to find the most adequate study  programme for academic mobility, the candidates are advised to visit individual websites  of the faculties or contact the International Relations Office at the University of Sarajevo.
After you have finished your research, fill out the application form and enclose the  following documents:
1.Transcript of Records – a list of courses that the student has made in her/his home  university
2. Learning Agreement
3. Certificate of language skills (if the transcript of Record does not contain the   information)
4. Nomination/official letter of confirmation that the student is an exchange student  nominated by her/his home university
