Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje

The Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, was founded in 1949 and  is organized in 21 faculties and 10 research institutes. The University provides teaching, scholar and applied activities in technical, natural sciences and mathematics, bio-technical, artistic, medical and social sciences. There are about 40,000 students from the Republic of Macedonia as well as over 700 foreign students. The language of instruction is Macedonian, however some courses are taught in the minority languages and English language for some postgraduate courses.

International Relations Office

The International Relations Office (IRO) stimulates, informs, and supports UKIM community in its endeavours to build compatibility to EU model of university, especially following the Bologna principles. Support goes first of all to projects fitting in the framework of the European educational and research programmes, such as TEMPUS, FP6, FP7, INTERREG, DAAD. More info.

Scholarships

JoinEU-SEE
Scholarship scheme for academic exchange between EU & Candidate countries and Western Balkan countries. Scholarships for undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and post-doctoral students and staff financed by the European Commission. The scholarship will cover travel, insurance, possible tuition, living expenses and housing. JoinEU-SEE website.

BASILEUS
ERASMUS MUNDUS EXTERNAL COOPERATION WINDOW PROJECT BASILEUS – Balkans Academic Scheme for the Internationalisation of Learning in cooperation with EU universities. The EMECW Basileus project consortium consists of 8 EU universities and 12 universities in the Western Balkans.
Basileus provides funding for academic mobility from:
* any Western Balkan institution to the 8 EU partner universities
* the 8 EU partner universities to the 12 Western Balkan partner universities

ERASMUS
Prior to the arrival, you need to arrange your Learning agreement with the ECTS coordinator at your home institution. The International Relations Office provides assistance for incoming students regarding admission, counselling and related information. Macedonian is the official language of instruction and the majority of the courses are taught in Macedonian. If you are interested in learning Macedonian, there is a possibility to follow courses at the Centre for Foreign Languages in Skopje. The courses start at the end of September, the price for one semester (3 months) is approximately 130 Euros (this is a non-credit programme). More info.
