Poverty in Europe

Open to: EU citizens between the age 15-30

The European People’s Party (EPP) invites all EU citizens between the ages of 15 and 30 to take part in the one-minute film competition. The challenge is to make a short film on the subject: ‘Imagine a life of poverty: can you picture a way out?’.

The EPP Group in the Committee of the Regions and the EPP is committed to promoting decentralised, two-way communication. For the past four years, it has held competitions for young Europeans in order to give them an opportunity to express opinions on the European Union and to share their views with EU decision-makers.

Eligibility
a. Films must be 60 seconds in total running time, including titles and credits
b. Films must be based around the creative proposition Imagine a life of poverty – can you picture a way out? and must clearly demonstrate actions to reduce poverty in our cities and regions
c. Films must be available in broadcast quality (if selected for the film festival in October)
d. Films must include the end screen as the final or penultimate shot, appearing for at least 3 seconds
e. Non-English language works must be accompanied by a script in the original language
f. Contributors must be the sole author

Award
One film-maker will be awarded the prize for the winning film (up to 1000 EUR for film equipment), the 2nd prize film (up to 500 EUR for film equipment) and the 3rd prize film (up to 250 EUR for film equipment) and an all expenses paid trip to Brussels to see the film screened.

Submission procedure
All interested participants should upload the film through the online application system and complete the online entry form
Submissions close at midnight 15th July 2010 (Central European Time).
