Rolling Film Festival, Kosovo

Deadline: 15 December 2010
Open to: Roma filmmakers or filmmakers who made films about romas

Balkan Sunflowers and Romawood has begun the organization of Rolling Film Festival #2 and is launching an open call to Roma filmmakers or filmmakers who made films about romas to submit their film to the Rolling Film Festival.

Rolling Film Festival is showcasing local and international films made by Roma as well as non-Roma. By screening a variety of local and international films audiences may gain a true insight into the global situation of Roma. The selection process ensure that the Rolling Film Festival does not contribute to a culture of stereotyping and misrepresentation of Roma. Another way of ensuring that a balanced view of Roma is portrayed is by including films made by Roma themselves. Roma filmmakers have a different perspective of their communities than do non-Roma filmmakers

Building on the successes from the first Festival in October 2009, the 2011 Rolling Film Festival will once again highlight films made by and about Roma around the world from 24th to 27th February 2011 (date to be confirmed).

Rolling Film Festival #2 is developing several new actions this year. Aside from a four-day film festival in Prishtina, we will also organize a school program and community screenings in 7 cities all around Kosovo from 2nd to 10th March 2011, as well as a short film competition for Roma youth aiming to encourage Roma youth creativity.
