About the Scaliger Institute

The Scaliger Institute, founded in 2000, is a special centre for the study and use of the Special Collections of Leiden University.

The Scaliger Institute offers researchers from the Netherlands and abroad the opportunity to obtain research scholarships – the so-called Scaliger fellowships – for a maximum period of two months. The grant amounts to a maximum of  € 1 000 per month. Allocation of this grant will take place after the assessment of an application form by the Executive Committee, which can be advised by one or more curators and/or experts from the faculties, if necessary. In addition, the Institute also has fellows without a scholarship. They often use the Institute for an extended period of time.

With effect from 1 January 2009, applications for a Scaliger fellowship can only be submitted to the Executive Committee in two rounds. The deadline of the first round is on 1 April 2011; the deadline of the second round is 1 October 2011.
