The Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI) is seeking candidates for the following position(s):

Fully funded PhD Positions

The extension of the Internet into the physical world (Internet of Things) requires the integration of Web, database, distributed systems, and networking research along with light-weight semantics and linked open data as the new general-purpose data-integration layer. Topics of interest (non-exlusive) are linked data and semantics for the IoT, scalable query processing, cross-layer approaches (network, middleware, database, Linked Open Data), mobile applications (Android), etc.

Requirements

Applicants must have a strong background in Computer Science and/or closely related areas, strong analytical and programming skills, excellent skills in both written and spoken English, and a genuine interest in designing, building and publishing innovative approaches.
Knowledge of large-scale distributed information systems, stream databases, management of time-dependant information, stream query processing systems, provenance, knowledge of semantic web technologies and linked open data are assests but not a must.
