Balkan Snapshots Festival 2011

Open to: filmmakers and video artists aged 16-35 from/based in Southeast Europe
Award: 500EUR for the winner of each category

Balkan Snapshots 2011, which will take place between 12-16 October, is a multidisciplinary festival combining independent film, theater, music and artistic performances. The festival offers a platform for Southeast and Western European artists and cultural actors to exchange experiences, knowledge and, most importantly, artistic expressions, in order to get to know each other and spark future collaborations.

This year, Southeast European filmmakers and video artists are invited to submit their work o the theme the Creative States of Southeast Europe. There are 3 categories in competition: Documentary, Animation and Fiction. A selection will be made and screened during the festival taking place at cinema Kriterion in Amsterdam.

Eligibility

Eligible participants are filmmakers and video artists, aged 16-35, and from/based in Southeast Europe: Serbia, Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Turkey, Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia.

Technical requirements

– Film must be max. 30 minutes long with English subtitles;
– Must reflect the overall theme of the festival: the Creative States of Southeast Europe;
– Clearly indicate in which category you are entering the short film (Documentary, Animation or Fiction);

Application

Fill in the application form and e-mail it to balkansnapshots@balkanburo.org. Then print it and attach it to the DVD containing your film short and send it by post before 30 June (stamp date) to: Balkan Buro, Open call BS 2011, Reestraat 14-2, 1016 DN Amsterdam – The Netherlands.

Please bare in mind that only one entry per applicant is accepted.

Award

The winners will be revealed at the end of the festival. Each winner will receive a prize of 500 euro.
