The Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) was founded in 1960 as Peoples’ Friendship University (in Russian: Университет дружбы народов им. Патриса Лумумбы). It was founded in 1960 and its stated objective at the time was to help nations of the Third World, mainly in Asia, Africa and South America. Nowadays it is ranked by the Ministry of Education of Russia as the country’s third-best university. It currently hosts 14 faculties and institutes with about 28000 students, out of which about 5000 are international students from 141 countries.

Today there are 18 master programs in English and a program in Spanish. Students’ recruitment on them started in 2010.
Scholarships and Admission
Foreign citizens can get a scholarship for studying at PFUFR ( i.e. tuition financed from a state federal budget) if they are sent there by a special order of the Federal Agency of education of the Ministry of education and science of Russia. Such places are annually allocated for each country, quota are distributed by the Federal Agency of Education by the order of the Russian government. All information about the number of places and entrance procedures is sent via the Russian Embassy to the corresponding ministries of education of foreign countries (approximately in January)
