Photographers Giving Back Photo Award

The third Photographers Giving Back contest is now open for entries. Starting on the 25th of November which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women ending on the 25th of January 2012. You may enter as many single pictures and picture stories as you like in each category. You may also submit the same picture to several categories. The jury has the right to move a picture from one category to another. They may also award a single picture selected out of a picture story.

Eligibility

The competition is open to all professional and gifted amateur photographers worldwide. Employees of The Photographer Giving Back Award and their families are ineligible for cash prizes. Photographers must own all copyright in any image entered and all entries must be the photographer’s original work. The pictures can only be submitted into the specified categories. Participating pictures must have been taken during the year 2011. They do not need to have been published. Pictures taken outside the year 2011 are automatically disqualified. Entry fees will not be refunded.

For each submitted picture there is an entry fee of US$10.

Prize

The prize pool is US$14,000 in cash. US$5,000 is awarded to the winner in the category Picture of the Year. There is a cash prize of US$1,000 for each 1st prize winner in the other categories. Any applicable taxes will be paid by the photographer. Each year The Photographer Giving Back Award give US$5,000 to a charity depicted among the rewarded pictures.

Application

Entries must be made online using the official contest site on this website. The contest is open from November 25, 2011 until January 31, 2012, at 23:59 Central European Time. Entries should be uploaded to the website as instructed on or before the closing date. Simply log onto the website and follow the online instructions to upload images. Only electronic entries will be accepted. To submit your pictures to The PGB Photo Award you will need to open a new personal account. Online submissions must be RGB or Grayscale jpegs at a maximum file size of 4MB each. Entrants may set their own DPI and image size but should bear in mind that the judges will view all images on a computer screen. If your image is chosen as one of the general winners you may have to upload a high resolution 300dpi file.

Digital manipulation, manufactured photo illustrations, double exposures, added masks, borders, backgrounds or other artistic effects are not allowed. No signature, stamp, or any other identifying mark is allowed anywhere on the entries. All participants should keep a high resolution file of their submitted file.

Awarded photographers will be presented around the end of February on The Photographer Giving Back Award website. The prize ceremony will be held in May/June in Stockholm, Sweden.
