Description

A 3-year PhD position is available at DTU Mathematics starting September 2012 or earlier. DTU Mathematics is a department at the Technical University of Denmark. Its main research fields are:

  • Applied functional analysis
  • Dynamical systems
  • Discrete mathematics
  • Geometry

PhD project description
You have the unique opportunity to define your own PhD project in mathematics in cooperation with a DTU Mathematics supervisor of your choice.  The process is that you contact a possible supervisor at the department, discuss your ideas for a PhD project and draw up a short PhD project description of maximum one page.

Eligibility

You should have a master’s degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, engineering or equivalent academic qualifications.

Scholarship

The PhD degree scholarship is subject to academic approval and you will be enrolled in one of DTU’s general degree programmes. For information about the general enrolment requirements and planning of the PhD studies, please see the DTU PhD Guide.

They offer a developing and challenging job in an international environment where approximately half of their PhD students are from abroad. The tone of communication among the staff is informal and cooperative with emphasis on a positive as well as inspiring academic working atmosphere.

The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is three years.
