Description

As a part of the PhD School in Engineering Science, scholarships to international students are available for PhD in Materials for Engineering in Brescia, Italy. The open call is to all Masters of Science suitable for the program. The scholarship are within the announcement for public competition for admission to the doctoral schools and PhD programs of the University of Brescia. Admission Requirements

Candidates as already mentioned must be MSc (or equivalent). They need to have good knowledge of one or more of the following foreign languages: English, French, Spanish. Candidates as well, will need to focus on project preparation and discussion with a final aim to check their attitude to carry out scientific research.

Titles that will be evaluated:
– Degree (score and relevance to the research activity);
– Certifications of language proficiency
– Certifications of the previous research activity
– Presentation letter(s) which must be prepared by a University professor or by an expert in the sector and must be uploaded by the Applicant together with all the documentation.

Foreigner candidates residing abroad will have the option to take the oral exam by a telematic platform (Skype, for instance), if the judging committee allows it. The computer of the candidate must be equipped with a web-camera in order to ensure the identification.

When the application is submitted online, applicants must provide all the information required to activate the online connection and recognition of their identity, including a copy of an identity document. The telematic oral examination will be given concomitantly to the oral examinations of the other candidates.
The date and venue of the oral examination will be posted on the University website at least 20 days before it. You can see additional instructions for applying online HERE.

Scholarship

The amount granted for a scholarship is € 13,638.48 per year (gross) and is subject, to INPS (Italian National Social Security) deduction. For the year 2012 it amounts to 27,72% of which 1/3 paid by the recipient of the grant, unless otherwise determined by law. The scholarships will be granted on the basis of the order of the respective merit rankings established by the Examination Committees, until all available scholarship have been assigned for each Doctoral Course.
If there are two or more candidates of equal merit, priority shall be given to the appraisal of the applicants’ economic situation in accordance with DPCM 30.04.1997 published in the Official Gazette of the Italian Republic no. 132 dated 03.06.1997.
The scholarship is awarded for the entire duration of the Doctoral program and it is paid every two months.
