Remuneration: modest monthly honorarium

Description

Recently graduated in communication, media studies or journalism? Greenpeace International is offering four positions in its Communications Department internship programme. They are looking for brilliant new talent, fresh from college or university or a similar experience to join them for a six month internship from February/March 2013 to July/August 2013 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. You will help support media strategy and network building, to inspire and mobilize millions of people to save the planet. There are currently four intern positions with a special skills focus on Media Analysis.

Tasks for Media Analysis Interns:

  • Reporting media (and social media) statistics
  • Quantitative and qualitative (social) media analysis
  • Media trends research
  • Create internal news briefings
  • Aggregation and coding of media coverage
  • Reporting web performance statistics

You will spend roughly 50 percent of your time on the tasks above and related work in the department. For the rest of your time, you will work together as a team on your own media analysis project. You will plan and execute the projects during your internship.

Greenpeace International internships are full-time positions (up to 40 hours per week). Their internships are meant for recent graduates who have completed their studies less than 1 year ago. This internship lasts six months and remuneration is via a modest monthly honorarium. The interns will have to take out health insurance before starting the internship.

More information about GreenpeaceGreenpeace is an independent global campaigning organisation that acts to change attitudes and behaviour, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace by:

  • Catalysing an energy revolution to address the number one threat facing our planet: climate change.
  • Defending our oceans by challenging wasteful and destructive fishing, and creating a global network of marine reserves.
  • Protecting the world’s ancient forests and the animals, plants and people that depend on them.
  • Working for disarmament and peace by tackling the causes of conflict and calling for the elimination of all nuclear weapons.
  • Creating a toxic free future with safer alternatives to hazardous chemicals in today’s products and manufacturing.
  • Campaigning for sustainable agriculture by rejecting genetically engineered organisms, protecting biodiversity and encouraging socially responsible farming.

Greenpeace is present in 40 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and the Pacific. To maintain its independence, Greenpeace does not accept donations from governments or corporations but relies on contributions from individual supporters and foundation grants.

Greenpeace has been campaigning against environmental degradation since 1971 when a small boat of volunteers and journalists sailed into Amchitka, an area north of Alaska where the US Government was conducting underground nuclear tests. This tradition of ‘bearing witness’ in a non-violent manner continues today, and their ships are an important part of all our campaign work.
