Call for Expressions of Interest for UNCCD Best Practices Databases

Description

The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification has launched the call for expressions of interest on UNCCD best practices. aims at providing UNCCD Parties with an overview on existing expertise and capacity which could support the CRIC in its tasks of compiling, reviewing and disseminating best practices on two UNCCD thematic topics:

  • Sustainable land management technologies, including adaptation;
  • Funding and resource mobilization.

The aim is to provide Parties with an overview on existing expertise and capacity which could support the CRIC in its tasks of compiling, reviewing and disseminating best practices. The outcome of this call will be considered at CRIC 11 in April 2013, with a view to recommending to the COP a number of primary organizations and databases.

Eligibility

The call is open to any agency, institution and organization – whether national or international, governmental or non-governmental – which has a legal personality and which maintains publicly accessible databases relating to one of the two aforementioned themes of best practices is eligible to participate.

Application procedure

Interested organizations are invited to respond to this call by submitting the online questionnaire published here. Only those organizations which have expressed their interest in replying to this call by the deadline and which have provided information on all basic requirements as indicated below (compulsory fields of the on-line questionnaire) will be considered as candidate organizations. The deadline for this call is set to 21 December 2012 at 11:59 p.m. CET. 

Criteria

  • Basic requirements: filter that will be used to establish a roster of organizations/databases;
  • Technical criteria: technical elements that will be used to rate organizations/databases;
  • Additional information: descriptive elements of the organizations/databases.

In responding to this call, interested organizations must also indicate:

  1. In which of the two themes of best practices (“sustainable land management technologies, including adaptation” or “funding and resource mobilization”) they have specific expertise and relevant database(s);
  2. Their interest in providing the services indicated in section 2, paragraph 8 above;
  3.  Whether these services can be provided free of cost, or whether a financial contribution is required.
