DOK.Incubator Film Production Workshops

Deadline: 5 March 2013
Open to: European producers, directors, editors, and film school graduates with a promising international film project
Venue: May (Wroclaw, Poland); August/September (Bratislava, Slovakia); November (Leipzig, Germany)

Description

DOK.Incubator provides individual tutoring by top European editors, producers, and sales agents for documentary projects from the rough cut stage to its release.

  • Are you editing a documentary project and aiming for worldwide distribution without artistic compromises?
  • Do you want to find the strongest and the most interesting way how to tell your story?
  • Are you planning the international release of your film, trying to succeed at renowned documentary festivals?
  • Are you interested in new distribution tools (online platforms, social networks, new media) and are you aiming for a crowd-funding campaign?

You can join the workshop either as a regular participant or as an observer. Participants are requested to come with a project – a film in a stage of a rough cut, which will be developed during the workshop. Each project will be represented by three people – a producer, a director and an editor of the film. If the film has a sales agent, s/he is welcome to attend the workshop as well, especially for the second and third session. Editors and directors of the film don’t have to stay for the second – production part of each workshop, but they are very much supported to do so. These parts of both workshops will be also dedicated to local producers, who will have an access to “open sessions” and screenings.

Observers can come without any film or with a film in another stage of production. They can discuss their films and seek advice from film professionals who will be giving lectures at workshops.  They would like to actively involve young starting sales agents in the documentary field, representatives of TV broadcasting, funds, film institutions and film professionals with a film at any stage. Observers are obligated to participate at 1st and 2nd Workshop Session!

Fees

Participation fee is 1.800 EUR  per selected project. The fee includes accommodation in double/twin rooms, lunches and coffee breaks during the three sessions for 2 – 3 persons. (If you come as a crew of three people, one of you will have to share room with participant of some other group. You can pay an extra money to get a single room if interested. If you are four and more, every other person will have to pay for his/her board and accommodation).

Observers are going to pay a fee covering the costs of their meals and accommodation (from 150-250 Euros per Workshop Session).

SCHOLARSHIPS

Participants from Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia may apply for a scholarship to cover part of the participation fees. Applicants must prove that there is no possibility of scholarship in their own country (letter from mediadesk) and that the project is a really low budget documentary and doesn’t have a closed funding.
