Description

Mladiinfo FEJS MK is looking for one EVS volunteer from Macedonia available for the period 1st April 2013 – 31st March 2014. The volunteer will take part in the long term EVS project on the main topic of social exclusion: “Volunteers enriching Gdynia” hosted by Foundation of Social Change “Creative”, and coordinated by Centre for Youth Cooperation and Mobility, in Gdynia, Poland.

The long-term EVS project “Volunteers enriching Gdynia” is hosted by Centre for Youth Cooperation and Mobility , (CYCM) is a Polish non-profit organization. It supports a wide variety of youth organizations and youth groups in northern part of Poland through training and facilitates the sharing of information and experiences. The aim of CYCM is to work to develop civil society and citizen-based initiatives and to initiate, support and organise international co-operation and mobility of youth.

Volunteer tasks

The EVS Volunteer in the Foundation of Social Change “Creative” will work with the local community in the citizen centre called ”Apteka” in Gdynia Grabówek, one district of the city. The  district itself counts about 5 thousands inhabitants, including about 600 people, whose antisocial behaviour influence others. The main aim of the Foundation is to provide actions for socially excluded people and those being in a danger of social exclusion through socio-activities, street working and animation of local society. The Foundation conducts cycle of workshops, which promote creative and healthy style of living (psychological-educational workshops for children, youth and their parents); family festivities and happenings, English lessons for young people and older people – equalizing opportunities, meeting of local leaders, artistic activities, a neighbourhood cafe, popping and breakdancing workshops, gymnastics, art therapy, photo workshops, festivals, performances, regular training of football, street working.
Activity range for the EVS volunteer is very wide, since revitalized district Grabówek requires unconventional methods concerning integration and activation practices of the people who are being in a danger of social exclusion or suffer from social exclusion.

Eligibility

  • The ideal candidate should be a young and motivated enthusiast, open for new experiences in life interested in various topics related to social inclusion.
  • Volunteers should be cheerful, serious, open-minded,patient, eager to learn a lot, but also ready for new friendships.
  • He/she has to be capable to deal with situations where unconventional methods concerning integration and activation practices of the people who are being in a danger of social exclusion or suffer from social exclusion will be used. At the beginning of their voluntary activity he/she will receive a short coordination training for all activities where their involvement would be expected.
  • Candidates should be between 18 and 30 years old in the moment of application.
  • Candidates should be Macedonian citizens
