VinylPlus Sustainable Thinking Platform Photo Contest

Description

The Sustainable Thinking Platform has launched a new, more exciting photo competition aimed at people aged 18-30 years old from all around the world. This edition will run from 1 February until 30 April 2013 and all entries must address the following question “Smart, sustainable and inclusive growth for Europe and beyond. How do we make it happen? All pictures must include a short explanatory text – of minimum 500 characters – addressing this particular question and indicating how we can make this happen.

Participants are asked to rate other members’ work. To do that, simply click on a picture and choose the number of stars you want to award. You will only be able to vote once for the same work but you can rate as many submissions as you want.

Each candidate may summit up to 3 different photos.

  • Contributions must be submitted as .jpeg, .png and .bmp, If you have produced a different file format, please make sure to convert it into one of the above.
  • Files must be at least 640×480 but no larger than 2 MB.
  • Photos presented in any other way will be disqualified

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded at the end of the competition. The prize for the winner is an iPad mini. The 3 most active participants will receive a recycled PVC sports bag. 

Eligibility

The contest is open to people aged 18 to 30 years old (on the closing date of each edition of the competition).

All photos must be original, factually accurate, and must not infringe or violate any law or the legal or equitable right of any person or entity; nor contain material that infringes or violates any personal property rights of others; or that constitutes libel, defamation, invasion of privacy, or an infringement of the intellectual property rights of any third person; nor be otherwise unlawful.

Submissions – Additional criteria

  • Contributions must be civil and tasteful.
  • Inappropriate (vulgar or offensive) usernames will not be accepted.
  • Disruptive, offensive or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated: contributions must be constructive and polite, not mean-spirited or contributed with the intention of causing trouble.
  • All unlawful or objectionable will be rejected: unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, racially offensive or otherwise objectionable material is not acceptable.
  • Please refrain from spamming other members or posting off-topic material: we don’t allow the submission of the same or very similar contributions many times.

Application

Submissions will be accepted until 30 April 2013 via the Sustainable Thinking Platform uploading system HERE. By submitting an entry, each participant acknowledges their understanding of and compliance with the rules. VinylPlus reserves the right to disqualify any entry deemed inappropriate for publication, at their discretion, see further explanation below.

Judging: Submissions will be judged in two phases. First, they will be peer-reviewed by other users, who will be able to allocate a maximum number of 5 votes to each individual work. Participants will be able to vote for more than one entry.  An expert panel composed of journalists and industry representatives will then select the winner out of the ten works with the highest number of votes at the end of each edition. Winners will be announced no later than May.
