The Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law offers a limited number of research scholarships for foreign scholars. The scholarships are funded by the Max Planck Society and are intended to support research stays at the Institute. Usually, the duration of such scholarships is 2 to 4 months.
Priority is given to candidates whose work may advance the research interests of the Institute. Projects eligible for the scholarship program include participation in Institute research projects, joint projects of Institute Associates and Visiting Fellows, and individual projects of Visiting Fellows which fall within the Institute’s Research Focus. Topics readily compatible with existing fields of research at the Institute are encouraged. Information about the Institute and its Research Focus can be obtained HERE.
In addition, the Visiting Fellows’ Program is aimed at the general goal of establishing and deepening contacts with representatives of foreign legal systems.

Applications submitted via e-mail will not be accepted.
After 15 February the platform will be closed for application for 2014. Please note that letters of reference that are submitted by mail must also be on hand on that date. Applicants will be informed about the Institute’s decision ca. 8 – 10 weeks after the application deadline.
