The International Uranium Film Festival “URÂNIO EM MOVI(E)MENTO” takes place every year in the City of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in May and June.
The festival is the first international film festival to highlight all nuclear and radioactive issues. It wants to inform not only the Brazilian and Latin American societies about nuclear risks. In addition the festival wants to stimulate worldwide the discussion about our “nuclear societies” and the production of independent documentaries and movies about the whole nuclear fuel chain, about the dangers of radioactivity about environmental and health risks of uranium exploration, mining and processing, about the use of radioactivity in medicine and food production.
The festival greatly appreciates your submissions, whether you are a first-time filmmaker or an established director.
The Uranium Film Festival wants to promote, show and award prizes to short (up to 40 min) and feature-length (longer than 40 min) films, movies and videos focusing on any nuclear energy, uranium and radioactive issues produced in any part of the world at any time!
The Uranium Film Festival accepts independent short films, documentaries and movies. Animated films, experimental art videos and music clips/videos are also welcomed. The festival accepts the following formats for finalists: 35mm, Blu-Ray, DVD
The International Uranium Film Festival awards the best films addressing nuclear and radioactive issues. The jury is created by independent cinema & nuclear energy experts and/or independent filmmakers and journalists. The final winners of the competition will be announced at the festival’s awarding ceremony. A selection of the films will later on screened in different cities and countries during the following months.
