Art and Photo Contest: What Does it Mean to be European in 2014?

Deadline: 30 January 2014
Open to: those who are at least 18 years old at the time of entry and European Union residents
Prize: 20 winners will have their work exhibited at the European Parliament in Brussels, will receive travel and accommodation for the exhibition opening and exposure across Bite the Ballot’s channels

Bite the Ballot aims to inspire young people to speak up and be a part of the decisions that directly affect them. The message is clear: “Don’t wait for someone else to make changes for the better – make the changes yourself. We have a direct voice to the people that make the decisions… we can’t change the system but we can change the outcome! Join us, have your say, it’s our future!”. Bite the Ballot believes in the power of the ballot box and the ability for one person to make a difference. They are giving creatives the chance to have their work displayed in the European Parliament.

The judges will choose 20 artists or photographers that capture what being European means to them in the modern day.

The contest is open only to those who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry and European Union residents. Proof of residency and age may be required.

Their work will be displayed in a special exhibition between 3-10 March 2014 and at one of Europe’s most famous buildings – the European Parliament.

The selected 20 artists or photographers will receive an exclusive invitation to the exhibition opening (travel and accommodation for 1 night will be provided for 1 person), receive a certificate from Bite the Ballot and receive exposure across Bite the Ballot’s official online channels.

The artist or photographer as selected by the community and the host will receive exposure across Bite the Ballot’s official online channels. The host will select from the top 10% of the highest voted submissions.
