Participate at a Symposium on Communist Identities in Romania!

Description

Take part in the 9th edition of International Symposium on „Social, Cultural, Ethnic, Religious Identities in Communism”.  The Symposium will take place in Fagaras, Romania, between July 9th and 12th, 2014. Considering the specific interests and competences of the scholars, they are invited to take part in this event. In addition, the papers presented at the Symposium will be edited in a distinct volume.

The main themes to be discussed at the Symposium will be centered on:

  • Social Identities in Communism;
  • Cultural Identities in Communism ;
  • Ethnic Identities in Communism;
  • Religious Identities in Communism;
  • Museum capitalizing of Communist history.

During the Symposium, each presentation will last 15 minutes. The presentations and debates will be held in Romanian and English. Considering that a Memorial for the Anti-communist Resistance in Făgăraş will be set up in the respective region, the participants are asked to share their experience relating to similar initiatives.

Eligibility

There are no precise eligibility criteria provided. The conference is open for international scholars.

Costs

The organizers will support the costs of the participants’ accommodation and meals.

Application

Please, inform the organizers on your willingness to participate in the Symposium by April 30, 2014 and send them the title of your paper and a 150-200 word abstract of it.
