Lithuanian State Scholarships for Lithuanian or Baltic Studies

Description

Education Exchanges Support Foundation takes pleasure in offering the quota for the Lithuanian state scholarships for students, lecturers and researchers from foreign higher education and research institutions.

Scholarships are offered for short-term Lithuanian (Baltic) studies (duration of studies – one (up to 5 months) or two (up to 10 months) semesters per person). The overall scholarship quota is 15 months. The scholarships are not intended for full degree studies. Normally, an academic degree or diploma cannot be obtained during the period covered by the scholarship.

Studies must take place from September 2014 to June/July 2015. The autumn semester in higher education and research institutions of Lithuania normally lasts from September until January, and spring semester – from February until June.

Eligibility

  1. The candidate has to be a student (not in the final year), lecturer or researcher at foreign higher education or research institution.
  2. Candidates for the Lithuanian (Baltic) studies scholarship must have an official letter of acceptance issued by the host higher education and research institution in Lithuania.
  3. Candidates applying for the Lithuanian (Baltic) study scholarships are required to aggregate 30 ECTS per one semester in the respected field, and also must fulfill other requirements for the Lithuanian (Baltic) studies.
  4. Lithuanian state scholarships cannot be coupled with other grants, scholarships or other academic exchange programs.

Scholarship

1cycle (Bachelor), 2 cycle (Master) and 3 cycle (Doctorate) students approved for the Lithuanian (Baltic) studies will receive a monthly stipend of 1,950 Lt (approx. 565 EUR).

Researchers and lecturers approved for the Lithuanian (Baltic) studies will receive a monthly stipend of 3,250 Lt (approx. 941 EUR).

Please note that tuition fee for the studies, accommodation and travel costs and other expenses must be covered by the scholarship holder from the scholarship received or other financial resources. The maximum amount of the tuition fee for the Lithuanian (Baltic) studies will be determined by the normative costs that are approved by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania.

Application

The deadline for online application submission is 1 of April, 2014.

Printed and signed online application form together with all the supporting documents must be sent by ordinary or registered post by 1 of April, 2014, date as per postmark. These documents are:

  1. Official letter from the candidate’s higher education and research institution approving the status of a student, lecturer or researcher.
  2. Transcript of academic records of the last two semesters issued by the applicant’s present higher education and research institution.
  3. Certified copy of obtained higher education diploma or diplomas.
  4. Two recommendation letters from home higher education and research institution
  5. Official letter of acceptance issued by the host higher education and research institution in Lithuania.
  6. Detailed programme of intended studies.
  7. Copy of certificate of proficiency in English or Lithuanian (or another language acceptable for the host institution).
  8. Copy of the valid identity document.

Applications postmarked after the deadline will not be considered. Applications must be sent to:

All scholarship applications must reach Education Exchanges Support Foundation by 25th of April, 2014. Applications received later than that date will not be considered.
