Description

The MEEES programme is an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course that aims to provide higher-level education in the field of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology. Graduate students involved in this Erasmus Mundus Masters course have the possibility of following a 18-month MSc programmes on either Earthquake Engineering or Engineering Seismology.

The MEEES consortium comprises four academic institutions:

  • Institute for Advanced Study of Pavia (IUSS);
  •  University of Patras;
  • University of Grenoble 1 “Joseph Fourier”
  • Middle East Technical University.

It is noted that the first institution runs the postgraduate earthquake engineering programme in Pavia, through the Centre for Post-Graduate Training and Research in Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology (ROSE School).

MEEES graduates will be awarded a Joint Masters degree by the Istituto Universitario di Studi Superiori, the University of Patras, the University of Grenoble 1 “Joseph Fourier” and the Middle East Technical University of Ankara. The official language is English.

Eligibility

The Consortium Scholarships are open to students of any nationality, without exceptions. Selection preference is being however given to non-third-country nationals. The minimum requirement in order to apply for the MEEES programme is a University Degree, or past professional experience, in Civil Engineering.

Admission to the course depends on academic qualifications, past professional experience and English proficiency, all of which should be included in the online submission procedure. Read more about the application requirements HERE.

Scholarship

Students are expected to make use of the scholarship to cover for tuition fees, living expenses and travelling costs (necessary to reach the Institutions of study). In other words, all incurred costs are under the direct responsibility of the student. The grants are the following:

  • MSc in Earthquake Engineering (18 months): 15,000€ (Euro);
  • MSc in Engineering Seismology (18 months): 15,000€ (Euro);
  • MSc in Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology (18 months): 15,000€ (Euro).

You do not need to compile the application form all at once, since, as long as you ‘Update your application form’, any new information introduced will remain stored in our database and thus be fully accessible for the next time you log in, when you will be able to delete, edit or modify any previously entered data.

In order to complete the application form you must upload the following documents:

  • Curriculum vitae et studiorum;
  • copy of the diploma certificate (in English);
  • transcript of the attended courses and professional qualifications (in English);
  • copy of the passport or the identity card;
  • English language test certificate (or waiver referring to previous courses, work experience in English speaking countries, etc.).

During the online application procedure the applicant will also be asked to indicate the name and email address of three referees. The online system will automatically contact these referees in order to obtain the reference letters. The applicant may enter the system at any time to check whether the reference letters have been submitted. The deadline for the submission of the letters of reference coincides with the application deadline. For this reason applicants are strongly advised to start the application procedure as soon as possible to provide referees plenty of time to write committed letters. Please, keep in mind that in the moment only the application call for the Consortium Scholarships is active, and not the calls for Category A and Category B scholarships.
