Description

Brave Festival – Against The Cultural Exile is a multicultural festival held in Wroclaw, and it is considered one of the biggest cultural events in Poland. It is organized by the Song of the Goat Theatre Association, which has since run the festival as a non-profit organization for preservation and support of the marginalized or almost extinct cultures.

It presents concerts, theatre, performances, rituals, prayers and art of the people, tribes, groups or individuals from all over the world. The festival is non-commercial and all income is to be resend for development projects made by non-governmental organization Rokpa International.

The period of volunteer work depends on the department in which a volunteer works. This year’s edition of Brave Festival (BF) takes place from 4 to 17 of July 2014, therefore this is the period of the majority of the volunteer activities. Still, some of the volunteers will start their operations a week or a few weeks before the festival.

During the 10th edition of the festival the volunteers will have the opportunity to engage in various tasks. Each of the volunteers shall be assigned, on the basis of their past experience and joint decision, specific responsibilities in one of the following departments, constituting the structure of volunteering at BF: Internal Office, Audience support, Logistics, Artists assistance, Festival Cinema, Festival Centre, Festival Club, Technical support, PR and marketing, Brave Kids Project or any other organizational work.

Eligibility

Volunteering at the Brave Festival constitutes a voluntary initiative aimed at all those who are familiar with the idea of the festival and who wish to support this type of cultural event in the region.

To become a Brave Festival Volunteer, one has to be an adult person with full capacity to enter into legal transactions. A minor (from 15 years up) can also become a Brave Festival Volunteer with the written consent of their parent / guardian.

Benefits

Volunteering at BF not only gives the opportunity to actively participate in this event, but it also allows you to gain the skills and experience connected to its organization and course. For those who wish, BF issues an official certificate confirming their volunteering at the event and including information on the scope of services they provided. Each volunteer also receives an ID card allowing them to attend the events included in the programme of the festival. Participation in these events is done in their free time and under certain conditions.

The organizer provides the volunteers with accident insurance. Please note that the volunteers cover travel, accommodation and food expenses by themselves.

Application

 The recruitment for this year’s edition lasts till 16 June 2014.

To apply for the post of the volunteer at BF one has to read the information below (Volunteer Regulations included) and register using the application form sending it to Karolina Nowak wolontariat@bravefestival.pl. Once registered, the candidate will be invited for an interview, which aims to acquaint him or her with the idea and the organization of the festival. The purpose of the interview is also to get to know the Volunteer’s motivation and predisposition towards volunteering at the Brave Festival.
