Treviso Comic Book Festival 2014 International Competition in Italy

Description

The Association Fumetti in Treviso announces the Third International Comics Competition for New Authors “TCBF” in collaboration with the Scuola Internazionale di Comics and in occasion of the Treviso Comic Book Festival 2014. The theme of the 2014 competition is the brain drain phenomenon. Stories must talk about this contemporary theme, real o metaphor way. This year the jury will include, besides the members of the Association Fumetti in Treviso, artists like: Nicola Ferrarese, Claudio Bandoli, Paolo Antiga, Paolo Gallina, Silvia Volonnino and Federico Tram.

The Scuola Internazionale di Comics (International School of Comics), founded by the eclectic designer Dino Caterini was established in 1979. The school offers a special teaching method, which emphasizes small class sizes and close contact so that each student feels professionally supported enough to find their own personal path that will allow them to fulfill the best of their talents. Dedicating its efforts mainly to high vocational training, the School boasts a strong presence of its former students in the editorial field.

Eligibility

The competition is open to all newcomers cartoonists and comics artists over 18 years old (born before 31 December 1996) from anywhere in the world.

Award

The Scuola Internazionale di Comics offers the following three prizes for this competition:

  • EUR 500 to the winner;
  • EUR 300 for the second place; and
  • EUR 200 to the third place.

Application

To enter the contest, the candidate should make a comics story from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 4 boards on the theme of the event. Boards must be maximum size of A3 (29.7 cm × 42). Participants have to send their boards, strictly original, by registered mail with return receipt and postmarked not later than August 30, 2014 to:

Along with the boards, participants need to also send digital scans at 300 dpi of works on CD-ROM.
