Description

Afronline is a project run by Vita Società Editoriale since 2009. Vita is a media content company specialized in non-profit, sustainability and social responsibility. Afronline encourages the development of cultural relations between Africa and Europe, particularly Italy. In their web portal they gather and disseminate quality information from a wide network of African independent media (newspapers, radio and web) and they also produce quality content (interviews, opinions and analyses) for various African media partners.

Afronline is currently seeking an Editorial Intern for a 4 months internship at VITA’s EU Office in Brussels.

The main responsibilities of the intern will be:

  • Organize, conduct and publish interviews on topics related to Africa (politics, culture, development);
  • Research and upload articles from independent African media on Afronline.org;
  • Manage Twitter and Facebook pages;
  • Conduct, transcribe and edit interviews;
  • Write articles and news stories;
  • Cover occasional events and conferences.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible candidates must:

  • Be graduates or undergraduates in communications, journalism, international affairs or related fields;
  • Have a native level of written and spoken English;
  • Have a good level of French (Italian is an asset);
  • Have a strong interest in the African content ( politics, culture, development);
  • Have the ability to write fluently and clearly;
  • Be familiar with social media;
  • Have some editorial experience and a strong interest in journalism;
  • Be well-organised, flexible and willing to learn.

Remuneration

The internship will be paid, however the exact salary is not specified.
