The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) has organized international academic institutes for more than 20 years.  Their objective is to provide a rigorous academic experience, foster dialogues that cross borders, and create a global network of responsible future leaders. The program offers comprehensive package including academic credit through Charles University, one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious universities and our partner since 1993, as well as housing, most meals, a variety of notable guest lectures, cultural and social events, and opportunities for professional development and networking.

Students who complete AIPES graduate into a global network of over 15,000 TFAS alumni. You can find TFAS alumni living and working in some of the world’s most exciting cities, including Washington DC, New York, London, Paris, Beirut, Hong Kong, Beijing, Buenos Aires, and Santiago, to name just a few. Admissions Criteria

The admissions committee will look for a well-rounded students who demonstrate ambition, strong academic performance, leadership ability, maturity, and involvement in campus and community activities.

Candidates with a solid academic record, strong recommendation letter, relevant professional or volunteer experience and a well-written writing sample will be given a preference for admission. The Admission Committee is to review the applications on a rolling basis. If being accepted to the program, you will be given 2-4 weeks to accept or decline the offer of admission.

Costs & Scholarships

Scholarship for attending The American Institute on Political and Economic Systems are being awarded based on academic record, extracurricular achievement, leadership ability  and financial need. The scholarship application is within the online application, therefor you are invited to indicate how much funding you are requesting and fill in as much information as you can about the cost of attendance at your current unviersity and your sources of funding. Students attending AIPES will pay no less than $400.00

Please note that scholarship exceeding the total cost of the program are not to be awarded. Aside, students will have to cover travel costs to and from the venue on their own. Prior to start of the program, e-groups will be established allowing accepted students to communicate among each other so they can also work together on traveling plans with other students from the region.

How to Apply?

Complete and submit the online application including the following uploaded materials:

  • A Statement of Purpose (max 500 words) explaining your reasons for applying to the program and what you hope to gain by attending
  • Writing sample (500-1000 words): “You were just elected as the leader of a country named Gropopleum that is currently facing political/economic upheaval, what would be the two main policy priorities you would implement? Why did you choose these measures?”
  • Resume/CV

In addition you will be required to submit your a letter of recommendation. Deadline for participants needing a visa to stay in the Czech Republic is 15 April, 2015 and those who are not required visa can apply until 1 May, 2015.
