International Conferenece on Enlargement process of EU

Description

The big bang enlargement of the European Union to 10 new member states (mostly from Central and Eastern Europe) occurred a decade ago. It was a political step of great importance, and one which was analyzed extensively. Those analyses produced significant insights in the functioning of political processes both in the EU, as well as within individual states. Those insights might be important to understand the further enlargement of the EU.

You are invited to submit your papers that focus on the link between political reforms in candidate countries, potential candidate countries, and the enlargement policy of the EU. Acceptable are also  papers that deal with the influence of the enlargement process on the states of the Eastern partnership, as well on any other European state that is influenced by the EU enlargement policy. Influence of enlargement on existing and new policies of the European Union as a topic of the paper is greatly welcomed as well.

General conference topics:

  • Evaluation of the European integration process in the Western Balkans;
  • Political reforms in candidate countries and influence of enlargement process;
  • Influence of the EU enlargement policy on European states;
  • EU Enlargement process and the Eastern Partnership.

The conference will be held at the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb, 5 June 2015. The language of the conference is English.

Eligibility

Anyone interested in the theme of EU enlargement policy is invited to submit their paper.

Costs

There is no participation fee for the conference. Accommodation and meals during the conference will be covered for by the organizers for one presenter of each accepted paper. There are available funds for covering the travel costs as well.

How to apply?

Prospective applicants should send a 300-500 word abstract (either in English, Croatian or Serbian), with the title of their paper, as well as the contact information and affiliation of all the authors, by 10 May 2015, at dcepo@pravo.hr. Applicants will be notified by 15 May 2015 if they were accepted or not.
