Description

The Turin School of Local Regulation announces the launch of the 18th Edition of the International Summer School on Regulation of Local Public Services. The Summer School will take place in Torino, Italy, from the 7- 18 of September 2015. 

The International Summer School on Regulation of Local Public Services is designed as an intensive workshop, combining theoretical and practical courses. More specifically it is divided into three parts: theory, economic models and analytical instruments for local regulation; sector analysis (e.g. water cycle, urban waste) and country-based cases studies; local site-visits and a practical experience with virtual regulatory case studies developed by working groups.

The Summer School is a unique international experience, offering the opportunity to meet an international faculty and participants from all over the world, interested in learning and sharing experiences about local policies and local regulation.

The School is designed to offer two weeks “full immersion” in user charges regulation of local public services (e.g. waste, water, public transport, district heating, sport facilities) and is addressed to undergraduate students at their last year, graduate students and officials from the Public Administration (municipalities, counties, regional bodies) and regulatory agencies.

The course lasts two weeks and is articulated in three parts:

  • Theoretical module;
  • Industry analysis;
  • cXase studies (with a virtual regulatory final report prepared by attendants).

Eligibility

The School is addressed to final year undergraduate students, graduates and official of public administration (municipalities, counties, regional bodies) and regulatory agencies staff who intend to study in-depth some of the most relevant issues for regulation, tariff setting and management of local public services, either of environmental interest or not.

The free registration is for those applicants from countries who joined the EU after 2004 and countries that are not members of OECD.

Costs

The fee for selected participants is equal to 150,00 EURFor participants from non-OECD countries or post-2004 EU member States the registration is free: a 150,00 EUR-deposit is due, which will be totally refunded at the end of the School.

The school will provide attendants with free accommodation at the Residence Olimpia Lungo Dora Siena 104 in Turin. The hall of residence is within walking distance from Mole Antonelliana, between C.so Regina Margherita and Dora Riparia in the former Italgas industrial area, inside the Università degli Studi di Torino Campus (Law and Political Sciences Faculty).

Travel expenses are not reimbursable in any case; furthermore, the accommodation does not include breakfast and does not include any meal.
