Description

The mission of GLOW (Girls Leading Our World) is to develop the inherent potential found in the young women of Macedonia by providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to become active leaders in their communities. This is done through experiential education that celebrates diversity, builds academic and social competencies, and promotes English language literacy, leadership, teamwork, problem solving, and creative expression. GLOW is managed by NGO Ambrela in cooperation with Peace Corps Volunteers, Camp GLOW alumnae, and supporters from Macedonia. GLOW is supported by US Embassy Skopje. Camp GLOW is a multi-ethnic leadership camp designed to promote self-confidence, friendship, and community participation through educational activities in women’s health, nutrition, the environment, goal setting, career planning, volunteerism, the arts, discrimination, peace education, and much more. The week-long camp serves a diverse group of 80 young women leaders from all over Macedonia.

Eligibility

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be available for the entire week of July 24-31;
  • Apply online by May 10;
  • Have good English skills;
  • Be entering Year 1, 2, 3, or 4 of secondary school in Fall 2015;
  • Not have attended Camp GLOW before;
  • Have Parents’ permission.

Costs

The participation fee is 1000 MKD. Participants have to pay travel expenses to/from Tetovo.
