PhD Research Fellowship in Mathematics at University of Oslo

Description

The University of Oslo is Norway’s largest institution of research and education with 28 000 students and 7000 employees. Its broad range of academic disciplines and internationally esteemed research communities make UiO an important contributor to society. The Department of Mathematics is part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The department has three sections: Mathematics, Mechanics, and Statistics and Insurance Mathematics. The department is also host for a Centre of Excellence, the Centre of Mathematics for Applications.

A position as PhD Research Fellow is available at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Oslo. If the successful candidate has a good command of one Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish), the fellowship will be for a period of 4 years, with 25 % compulsory work (teaching responsibilities at the Department). Otherwise the fellowship will be for a period of 3 years, with no compulsory work. No one can be appointed for more than one fixed-term period at the same institution. Starting date no later than 01.06.2016.

The research fellow will be attached to the Section for Stochastic Analysis, Finance, Insurance and Risk, and be part of “Stochastics of Renewable Energy Markets (STORE)”. STORE is a 4-year project funded by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in mathematics, with an excellent background in stochastic analysis. The purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.

Salary

NOK 430 500 – 483 700 per year.
