Description

IDEA invites you for the training “Art for Advocacy: Empowering artists in the Balkans” which will take place in Ohrid, Macedonia, from 22 to 29 June 2016. The training will be organized as a series of workshops where youth and NGO activists will learn how to use the visual language of art and design to communicate their thoughts, messages and positions where it matters, contributing to a healthier, more open and encompassing communities. 2016 sees the introduction of music production and slam / protest poetry to the curriculum to help round out the communicated message and present a more cohesive approach towards campaigning issues of importance.

The program aims to strengthen civil society, with a focus on human rights, youth activists and representatives of youth civil organizations in SEE by providing them new skills for advocacy, but in a very innovative and alternative way of expression.

These tools will give organizations and human rights activist’s new ways to raise awareness of and educate the public about significant human rights. Art has the ability to touch society so profoundly that positive change can come about as a direct result.

Eligibility

Young people aged 18-28 from Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.

Costs

  • Thanks to the financial supporters and donors, the activity is financially supported by Open Society Foundation and all the project costs are covered;
  • The organizer will refund the cost of a modest, land based public transportation ticket (bus or train) from one of the participating countries to the event location (if you are from one of the eligible countries, but are currently living abroad, the organizer will only be able to cover the public transportation ticket cost from your country of origin, and not your current location);
  • Cost refunding will be done on-site, after presenting valid receipts outlining the transportation costs.
