The Greenmotions Film Festival is a call to action aiming to raise awareness in people around sustainable thinking! The fourth edition will take place at Kommunales Kino in Alten Wiehre Bahnhof in Freiburg (Germany) on November 09 – 12, 2017.With the presentation of solution-oriented, constructive and positive films we would like to convince the audience of the need for active participation. This year, on the occasion of the 200th  anniversary of the bicycle’s invention we will have a special prize about sustainable mobility. Inspiring documentaries and feature movies will be presented at the festival weekend along with the best short films of our international short film competition. Eligibility

  • The festival is open to films of all production techniques, including animation, documentary, drama, experimental or artist film and hybrid work from low to high budgets;
  • All films should be solution oriented towards the current and future environmental problems. The movies which are inspirational, empowering to take action and giving tools how to involve in change towards a more sustainable life are preferred;
  • Films for the short film competition must have a running time of 20 minutes or less, including credits;
  • Long feature movies should have a running time of 20-120 minutes;
  • Films that have previously been submitted to the festival will be accepted again, as long as they were not shown in the program of 2015 or 2016;
  • Preferred languages: German or English. For all other languages, German or English subtitles are required, German is preferred. For German movies, English subtitles are preferred;
  • Long feature movies should have a running time of 20-120 minutes;
  • The festival does not require any premiere status but notes that this may come into consideration during the selection process;
  • Films that have previously been submitted to the festival will be accepted again, as long as they were not shown in the program of 2015 or 2016.

Prize

  • Prizes are amounting up to EUR 3500. The exact amount depends on the fundraising done throughout the year;
  • Juries of experts will select the best short and long feature movies;
  • The festival may consider creating categories of the short film submissions; 
  • The categories may be awarded differently. The prize of the audience choice will be given only to long feature movies.
  • The festival, therefore, may give a partial payment of the transport costs (up to 100 EUR per film) to the filmmakers.

How to Apply?

  • Submission via real port or film freeway is preferred.
  • For both platforms, 2 EUR submission fee is required.
  • The movies can also be submitted through greenmotions film festival with no cost
  • All films should be in a high-quality video (at least 720p HD) and good audio quality.
  • At least one still of the film must be sent. Submission material for long feature films should include a trailer.
