Applications are now open for Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry Contest. Now in its 19th year, this contest seeks today’s best humor poems.

Winning Writers finds and creates quality resources for poets and writers. It was founded by Jendi Reiter and Adam Cohen in 2001 and they sponsor four annual contests among which is the Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry Contest.

There is no fee to enter. Writers can submit published or unpublished work.

Eligibility

No restriction on age of author. All countries eligible except Syria, Iran, North Korea, and Crimea (due to US government restrictions).

Awards

First Prize: USD 1,000 plus a two-year gift certificate from the co-sponsor of the contest, Duotrope (a USD 100 value)

Second Prize: USD 250

Honorable Mentions: 10 awards of USD 100 each

How to apply?

Length limit: 250 lines maximum.

In addition to English, your poem may contain inspired gibberish. You may submit published or unpublished work. Please omit your name from your entries. They prefer 12-point type or larger. Please avoid fancy, hard-to-read fonts. Please submit only one poem to this contest.
