Young Reporters in Dialogue: Training Program on Regional Cooperation and Reconciliation

Organized by The Institute for Central-Eastern and Balkan Europe (IECOB)

at The University Residential Center of Bertinoro (Italy), and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy September 26 – October 7 2022

The Training Program Young Reporters in Dialogue offers to 12 young participants from the Western Balkans (Albania; Bosnia-Herzegovina; Kosovo; North Macedonia; Serbia; Montenegro) an opportunity to increase their familiarity with contemporary approaches and debates surrounding cooperation and reconciliation matters through lectures, ideas exchange and group work. The macro- themes addressed in the Training Program are:

· Reconciliation and democratization;

· EU integration;

· Human rights;

· Peace and security;

· Migration and minorities.

During the activities foreseen within the Training Program, the beneficiaries will be able to develop an in-depth knowledge of the themes of interest of the project through constant exchange with the new generations of journalists, analysts and bloggers coming from the other regional countries, in order to promote a joint commitment to consolidate democratic institutions at the national level and

reconciliation processes at the regional level.

As part of the Training Program, participants will visit also the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy (MAECI) in Rome.

The Training Program consists of the following activities:

• 5 days of lessons with IECOB experts, university professors and leading experts

• A study visit to Rome and in particular to MAECI

• A round table on issues of regional and international importance

• Development of briefing papers on the topics of the Training Program

• A final event, in which participants will present their briefing papers

Who can apply?

The Training Program aims at selecting and training young journalists, analysts, bloggers and vloggers from the Western Balkans, with an interest in cooperation, reconciliation, democratization and geopolitical matters related to their region. There are no specific academic background requirements to apply.

Organizational information and application procedure:

For all participants, there is no enrolment fee. Thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, all participants will receive free accommodation and board at the University Residential Center of Bertinoro, as well as up to Eur 300,00 to cover travel expenses.

How to apply?

Participation in the Training Program is bound to an application procedure. The application consists of the applicant’s CV together with a motivation letter (max. 1 A4 page). The CV should include references to writing or other media content samples authored by the applicant. The deadline to apply is 20th August 2022. Decisions about participation will be made by a selection committee, and accepted candidates will be notified by 30 August 2022. Participants are asked to retrieve and familiarize with information on entry requirements linked to Covid-19.
