Deadline: 29 September 2022
Open to: international applicants
Benefits: competitive salary

Description

The International Center for Future Generations (ICFG) is a European think-and-do-tank dedicated to improving societal resilience in relation to exponential technologies and existential risks. The ICFG was founded in 2021 by Steven Schuurman and Laurens de Groot, and while being a brand-new organization, it has secured enough philanthropic funding to operate for many years. The Institute aims to improve the ability of democratic governments to tackle challenges related to current and future technological progress by providing the data and support needed. The ICFG operates as a catalyst for change and focuses on the development and deployment of solutions within the following focus areas: Climate Crisis Solutions, Biorisk Mitigation, and Technology Risk Mitigation. The ambition of ICFG is to scale out and become the most impactful think- and do tank in these focus areas in the European Union (EU) by working with stakeholders within the EU and national governments and providing them with expertise, insights, and concrete policy suggestions.

The ICFG is looking to appoint a mission-oriented individual to join them as their first CEO, who will implement the vision for the Institute and achieve its ambitions of becoming the leading think and do-tank in the outlined cause areas globally. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will lead in shaping a vibrant and sustainable future for the organization and ensuring that the ICFG will deliver on its strategic objectives. The CEO will support and build synergies and relationships across the sector, also ensuring that the ICFG secures the support of current and additional partners.

Eligibility

In this role, the ICFG seeks a senior leader who brings direct experience in co-designing and implementing strategies and has worked in foundations, thinks tanks, or public affairs. The CEO is equipped with a broad network and a good understanding of the sectors relevant to the ICFG. Equipped with emotional intelligence, the ideal candidate is an excellent team player who communicates clearly and effectively and has experience building and strengthening working relationships inside and outside the ICFG.  One of the more important responsibilities of the CEO is to hire, build, shape, and support the team towards success and foster a culture of respect and accountability within the Institute. Moreover, the CEO will demonstrate a deeply rooted sense of urgency and a genuine alignment with the values of ICFG and the stakeholders and sectors it aims to serve.
