Social Psychology PhD Student Workshop

The SoDoc meeting at the Jacobs University of Bremen is an annual consultation possibility for PhD students in Social Psychology from German-speaking countries. The workshop is however also open for a limited number of international students and the workshop language is English. It will be held from june 24 till june 27.

Deadline: 31/03/2010

The aim of the workshop is to provide an opportunity to present your ongoing PhD project and preliminary data, and to receive feedback from fellow graduate students as well as from experienced teachers. Participants will work in small groups (up to 15 students) with one of the teachers. Each group will have a certain main theme, based on the teachers’ field of expertise (see below). When you apply, you can choose which group you would like to participate in. In these groups you can present your doctoral project (30 min.), followed by a 15 min. discussion, to receive comments and suggestions.

Each teacher will also provide a keynote address and an open question and answer session with all four teachers will round of the program. In this Q & A session, PhD students can ask the teachers about topics concerning scientific work, such as ethics, publishing, or applied research, and about steps in scientific career planning, e. g. organizing a stay abroad or a Post-Doc abroad.

The workshops will offer ample opportunities to get to know other PhD students and their work, to build networks, to develop new research ideas, and of course – to have a lot of fun. Above and beyond the scientific schedule there will therefore be a number of social events in which you can participate. Stay tuned for more information!
