Summer programme: Nuclear Proliferation, USA

Deadline: 01/03/2010

The Hertog Global Strategy Initiative is a research program that employs historical analysis to confront present and future problems in world politics. Each summer, invited experts and select students will gather at Columbia University for twelve weeks of intensive study, independent research, and collaborative writing.
The topic of 2010 programme is: Nuclear Proliferation and the Future of World Power and will run from May 24 through August 13, 2010.

Students in the program spend the first three weeks of the summer in training in nuclear strategy and the methods of  international history. The following eight weeks are spent conducting  independent and team projects. In August, the class reconvenes and  participants present their research and produce a joint report. The program is intended to demonstrate the potential for collaborative  historical research on critical issues in international affairs.

The program is open to undergraduates, post-graduates, and graduate students.

Hertog Fellowships, covering tuition and fees, will be awarded to two students with the most impressive applications and essay questions.
