Campus Party Europe: Fight against poverty

The Spanish Ministry for Science and Innovation presents in Madrid from 14th – 18th April, and during the Spanish Presidency of the European Union, Campus Party Europe: a special edition of what is considered the biggest event for technology, creativity and digital culture online in the world. The event is also supported by the European Commission.

For four days, 800 young people from each of the 27 member states of the EU will participate in activities such as conferences, workshops and challenges centred around three knowledge areas: Science, Digital Creativity and Innovation.

For this event, the costs of transport, accommodation and maintenance will be taken care of by the organizational body of the event.

If you have an idea to fight agains poverty and social exclusion through new technologies, you could be one of the participants invited to Campus Party Europe and participate in the Challenge from the Ministry for Science and Innovation of the Spanish Government…
  1. Record a video of no more than three minutes that explains your idea.  It could be software development, a plan that includes the use of technology or any other contribution that needs the Internet to function.  In the video you should, explain the basis of your idea and how it could be carried out and what the benefits would be for those less favoured groups and countries.
  2. Upload your video to a repository such as YouTube or Vimeo.
  3. Complete the registration form and include the link to your video in the space required.  Your idea will be evaluated by the organization and the authors of the top 10 will be invited to Campus Party Europe.

The best idea will obtain a prize of 3.000 Euros and his creator will have the opportunity of presenting them in the Seminar “Technology against poverty and social exclusion” which will be held during the event, and will be attended by politicians from the European Union, invited by Cristina Garmendia, Minister for Science and Innovation in Spain.

Furthermore, the winner will be invited by the European Commission to attend the ITC 2010 event, Europe’s most visible forum for ICT research and innovation, which will take place in Brussels on 27-29 September 2010!

You can send your project for evaluation as of today until 15th March.
