Grants

Proposals are invited for the following initiatives:
* specific short-term research projects
* Research scholarships in the researcher’s home country and abroad (max. 24 months)
* Conferences
* Publishing Aid (only awarded for projects already being supported by the Foundation)

Application documents can be written either in German or in English.

Proposals

Proposals should include:

Research projects and research scholarships
* application overview (Form for research project application; Form for scholarship application)
* description of the research proposal (max. 8 pages)
* work plan and time schedule, travel itinerary (if needed)
* detailed cost calculation (the specific funds being applied for must be precisely defined)
* curriculum vitae and publications of the applicant(s)
* if appropriate, curriculum vitae and publications of the proposed project coordinator and/or participant

After having sent the electronic application form, we kindly ask you to send us a printout of the completed application form along with the other documents by mail.

Additionally for scholarship applications:
* certificate(s) of university degree (or seminar attendance certificates for direct doctorades); references do not have to be attested
* at least one letter of recommendation by a university lecturer, to be sent by the author directly to the Gerda Henkel Foundation (signed by the author – an unsigned preliminary version via email or fax is accepted)

Conferences
Applications for funding of a conference should contain the following documents:
* application overview (= Form for research project application)
* conference concept
* list of speakers and subjects
* cost plan which provides information about the volume of funding the applicants can provide themselves and grants that have been promised by other supporting institutions (normally travel expenses and hotel expenses – no flat-rate daily allowance shall be paid)
* statement as to whether an identical or a comparable application has been submitted to any other funding body recently or at any time in the past.

After having sent the electronic application form, we kindly ask you to send us a printout of the completed application form along with the other documents by mail.

Publishing Aid
Publishing aid is currently only awarded for projects already being supported by the Foundation.

Applications for printing aid are to include a two-page summary of the academic merit and innovativeness of the monograph/collection, at least two cost calculations from independent publishing houses and the manuscript on which the calculations have been made (this can also be provided on CD-ROM).
