Young Movie Director Award

The Young Director Award has supported and promoted debuting international creative talent in commercial film production. It is the only award specifically dedicated to beginners.

The Award is divided into two sections: European and Non-European directors. The competition Young Director Award is strictly for commercials. The commercials must be shot and screened for the first time after May 2009.

There are five overall categories:
* Broadcast category for commercials that have been shown on tv or in cinema
* The test commercial category for commercials that have been produced as tests
* The film school category for students at film schools
* The web-film category for commercials that have been produced exclusively for the internet
* The short film category for branded short films of up to 3 minutes (no music videos)

Entry fees
Entry fee is 38 EUR per film. Film school categories are free.

Award
The main sponsor of the competition is Kodak offering the YDA 2010 winners:
* 3,000 meters of 35 mm film to the special jury prize
* 2,400 meters of 35 mm film to the 1st prizes
* 1,200 meters of 35 mm film to the 2nd prizes

The prizes will be given at a ceremony June 23rd in Cannes.

Submission procedure
All interested participants need to:
1. fill in the online application form
2. upload the movie through the Young Director Award website
3. include declarations stating:
– that this is one of the first 4 commercial projects made by the director,
– that the film has been produced May 2009 or later.
