Summer School: Security Studies for Journalists, Tirana

Open to: journalist and students of journalism and communication in their last year of studies with knowledge of Albanian language

The Albanian Council on Foreign Relations (ACFR), with the support of the NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division, announces the organization of first Summer School on “Security Studies for Journalists” to be held in Tirana-Albania from the 21st to 28th of June.

The aim of the summer school will be to enhance the critical role of journalists and media in the areas of peace, conflict and security. The curriculum will be taught by well-known academics and experts in the area of security and defense.

The sessions are designed to cover the relevance and respective policies of the following organizations:
1) NATO and its principles, strategies, development of the new strategic concept, enlargement and the relations with South-Eastern European countries
2) EU and its security policy (CSDP, ESDP) and peacekeeping operations
3) UN; peace and security, peacekeeping, peacemaking and preventive action,
4) OSCE and its political-military, economic-environmental and human dimension
5) Albanian security and defense policy, its coherence and conformity towards these organizations

Eligibility
* open to journalist and students of journalism and communication in their last year of studies;
* English language; the language of summer school
* Albanian language, as some lectures are in Albanian language.

Cost
* The summer school is free of charge.
* The participants are responsible to cover travel and accommodation costs themself.
