The project, “Consolidating Democratization Process in the Security Sector in Serbia”, is implemented by the Democratisation Department of the OSCE Mission to Serbia with the financial support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) in the period from 2010-2012.

The Mission will provide scholarships to security sector staff, journalists and civil society activists for postgraduate security studies. For the academic year 2010- 2011, the Mission will administer 10 scholarships for one-year master studies and 3 scholarships for two-year PhD studies at the Belgrade University’s Faculty of Political Sciences and Faculty of Security.

Eligibility
* all applicants for the scholarship programme must be Serbian citizens;
* candidates applying for master studies scholarship must be under the age of 35 at the moment of application;
* candidates applying for doctoral studies scholarship must be under the age of 40 at the moment of application;
* only the candidates formally accepted by the Faculties for one of the two sponsored study programmes will be eligible for scholarships.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MASTER (MA) STUDIES

All candidates are required to apply at their respective faculties for one of the sponsored courses in parallel to applying for the scholarship through a regular procedure (please consult respective faculties for details).
* Faculty of Political Sciences: MA in Political Science – International Studies, module: International Security
* Faculty of Security, Master’s degree studies

Application procedure
Applications must be submitted in English and include the following:
a. Curriculum Vitae, highlighting the candidate’s professional achievement and leadership potential;
b. Letter of Motivation highlighting the candidate’s career and academic plans and their relevance for security sector reform in Serbia
c. Example of written work in English (published one or just for the occasion of the concurs);
d. Candidates working in the Ministry of Defence should apply through the regular application procedure led by the Human Recourses Sector of the Ministry of Defence- all details are available on the website of Serbian Ministry of Defence and magazine “Odbrana”, published on 15 August 2010.

The application must be submitted by email to scholarships2010@osce.org, not later than 15 September 2010 (with the email subject line “application for MA scholarship 2010”).

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR DOCTORAL (PhD) STUDIES

All candidates are required to apply at the respective faculties for doctoral studies in parallel to applying for the scholarship through a regular procedure (please consult respective faculties for details). Only the candidates formally accepted by the Faculties for one of the two sponsored study programmes will be eligible for scholarships. Candidates already enrolled to doctoral studies that have successfully completed the first year of doctoral studies are also eligible and may apply.

Application procedure
Applications must be made in English and consist of:
a. Curriculum Vitae, highlighting candidate’s professional achievement and leadership potential;
b. Motivational letter, highlighting candidate’s career and academic plans and their relevance for security sector reform in Serbia

The OSCE Mission to Serbia will invite the most successful applicants to an oral interview in the second half of September.
