Hosted by the Student News Action Network, this online competition will run through January, 2011 with winners announced shortly thereafter.

News Action is an online platform bringing together student journalists from secondary schools around the world in a forum that enables them to use new media to address issues of local and global significance in a collaborative, peer-driven environment.  Relevant news stories will be evaluated both on how well the article “grabs” the reader and how well the article describes the current event.  All written contributions to News Action suited to the criteria listed above will be considered for the competition.

Topics can include any appropriate current event or issue, including but not limited to culture, environment, health, education, governance, economics or politics. In seeking to promote and enable more citizen-based journalism, we encourage students to report on current events and breaking news stories in their community – both locally and globally.
