The Osteuropa-Institut Regensburg (OEI) is a regional studies center at the  University of Regensburg focussing on emerging east European economies in a global perspective. Situated south of Munich  on Lake  Starnberg, the Akademie für Politische Bildung Tutzing (APB, Academy for Civic Education) has a reputation for organising conferences and workshops in various fields of the social sciences.

The OEI/APB Summer Academies on Central and Eastern Europe aim to bring together researchers in a workshop atmosphere. Each participant presents  an ongoing  or recently concluded research project and comments on another one, to be followed by a general discussion. In addition, three keynote lectures are presented. This format should be especially interesting for PhD students and post-docs. More senior researchers, however, are also welcome to participate. In order to ensure lively discussions, the number of participants is limited to 15. The workshop  language is English. Participants from institutions in Central and Eastern Europe may apply for a (partial) travel grant.
