Master in Advanced European Studies, Italy

The Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs is offering 21 scholarships for graduates who are nationals of the countries listed below, to attend the Diploma in Advanced European Studies 2011/2012:

  • ALBANIA
  • BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA
  • CROATIA
  • KOSOVO
  • MACEDONIA
  • MONTENEGRO
  • SERBIA

Graduates who are nationals of the above-listed countries are invited to submit their applications through the specific on-line procedure available on the website of the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 12 May to 12 June 2011.

The study programme of the European College of Parma covers one academic year and is divided into two phases.

The first phase includes two semesters (the first from October to February and the second from February to July), totalling over 800 full-time hours.  Students who successfully pass such exams are acknowledged a first title: the Advanced Diploma in European Studies.

The second phase starts in July, after second semester exams. Graduates have the possibility to achieve a University Master’s Degree in Advanced European Studies, by writing under the guidance of one of the professors of the European College of Parma, a dissertation on a European issue related to a course or seminar of the College’s study programme.

Lectures are held in English, French and Italian. In principle, examinations relating to the various courses can be taken in one of the three teaching languages of the Advanced Diploma in European Studies, provided that each student takes at least one exam in each of the three languages. Lectiones magistrales, courses and seminars are held in the three working languages of the College: English, French and Italian. Candidates are required to master at a very good level one of the three languages and a good basic knowledge of a second language. Furthermore, attendancy and good results will have to be achieved in order to improve and complete language skills.

In order to enrich training with professional experience, workshops, group activities, debates on European topical issues are also provided.

The academic staff of the European College of Parma Foundation are made up of university professors and top officials of the European institutions, politicians, experts and researchers on the EU issues.

The objective is the provide adequate theoretical notions completed by a practical and “hands-on” training. The direct experience provided by each professor belcomes a significant source of training for the students of the Diploma and Master in Advanced European Studies, who will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge on European issues and to experience a “hands-on” contact with the protagonists of the “European Construction Site“.

 

Application

To apply, interested candidates must follow this procedure:

  • Open THIS WEB PAGE
  • Register through the relevant procedure (“Registrati qui”, bottom left side of the page)
  • After having registered (and thus created your “account”), log on the system and access the online form
  • After selecting the language for viewing the form, the candidate must first of all select the item “Collegio Europeo di Parma –DASE” from the menu,  and then fill out the form.
  • If necessary, candidates can ask for assistance by e-mail to the competent Italian Diplomatic Representation and/or Istituto Italiano di Cultura.
  • The online application must be completed through the digital upload of the applicant’s identity document.
  • Applications which are not made through the specific online interactive form will not be considered.
  • The deadline for submitting the online form is 12 June 2011.

Once the form has been submitted online to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the applicant, only if required by the Italian Representation Office that is competent for the territory, with which the applicant shall make contact in advance, must send the form  printout, duly signed and dated, together with a copy of the document.

Scholarship

The European College of Parma Foundation grants on a yearly basis, scholarships to worthy students who are in economic need. The Foundation grants a limited number of partial scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded by the Selection Committee on the basis of funds available, once all applications have been processed.
