The National Restaurant Association Education Foundation (NRAEF) is the leading scholarship provider for the restaurant and foodservice industry. Our goal is to award scholarships to motivated individuals who are committed to furthering their education and succeeding in the restaurant and foodservice industry.

The NRAEF has awarded more than $11 million dollars in merit-based scholarships to students and educators since 1987.

Student scholarships start at $2,500 and educators receive $1,750 scholarships.

The NRAEF understands the importance of scholarships and supporting students and educators. It offers a variety of merit-based scholarships to students who want an education and a career in the foodservice industry as well as professional development scholarships for restaurant and foodservice educators.

Scholarships for First-time Freshmen

High School/GED Graduate/ProStart Students

You may be eligible for these scholarships if you are or will be a high school graduate or GED graduate.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply, you must:
· Be a citizen or permanent resident* of the United States of America
· Be a first-time freshman. This includes:
o Graduating high school seniors (You must have graduated from high school by August 2011)
o GED graduates enrolling in college for the first time**.
o High school graduates enrolling in college for the first time**.
· Be accepted and plan to enroll in an accredited culinary school, college or university. You must:
o Enroll as a full-time or substantial part-time student taking a minimum of 9 credit hours each term.
o Major in culinary, restaurant management, or other foodservice related major.
o Plan to remain in school for at least two consecutive terms

Application Process

1. Complete the required essay for the Academic Scholarship for First-time Freshmen,
GED Graduates and ProStart Students

The essay is required as part of the scholarship application packet and must be submitted with your printed and signed online form and other required documents as outlined in these instructions. The essay must be typed and double-spaced. Please put your name on the top of each page of your essay. Your essay must address each item in the essay question.

2. Complete the online form
Complete, print and sign the online form

3. Gather all the required documentation. More info here.

4. Mail Completed Scholarship Application Packet on or before the deadline date to the address indicated below the post.

Al Schuman Ecolab First-time Freshman Entrepreneurial Scholarship

Award amount: $3,000 – $3,500

This scholarship was established to award scholarships to qualified students who are recent high school graduates/first-time freshmen who demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial spirit. This scholarship is for students who attend a select list of schools. Please read the application instructions to see if your school is on the list and if you are eligible.
