Description

The Commonwealth Youth Programme Regional Centre for Africa (CYPRCA) assists member governments in the development of programmes for the empowerment of young people aged 15–29. Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP) works to engage and empower young people to enhance their contribution to development. This is done in partnership with young people, governments and other key stakeholders. CYP advocates for effective participation of young women and men in the development process and for social transformation and CYP values their full engagement at all levels of decision making.

Objectives of the Internship

· To bridge the gap between formal education and a career

· To inject creativity, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial ideas to empower young people to develop their career goals and gain valuable experience

· To provide participants with an international perspective of youth development

Duration

The internship offer is for 6 months (possible to exceed for another six months).

Roles of the Intern

The Intern will participate and contribute to the CYPRCA Programme Planning, Implementation and Monitoring and Evaluation; Reporting processes and any duties that may be assigned.

Eligibility

Person Specification and Competencies

Should be a recent University graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree (with at least Honours/Credit) or better in Humanities, Social Sciences, or related fields. Qualifications in a field such as Youth work, Community Development, Management, Social Administration, Development Studies, Mass Communication or related fields may be an advantage.

· Demonstrable contribution to youth development work
· Good oral and written communication Skills
· Good IT and graphic design skills
· Good research skills
· Good designing and graphic skills
· Good interpersonal skills
· Maintains good standards and adherence to guidelines and procedures
· Respect for diversity and commitment to learning in a multi-national environment
· Maintaining a professional and positive approach
