Organizational unit: Management Information Services Branch/Division for Management Services (MIS/DMS)

Duties and responsibilities:

Under the direct guidance and supervision of the Infrastructure/Security Specialist, the Infrastructure/ Security Technician is responsible for technical support of network security and traffic analysis at HQ, Regional, Sub-Regional and Country Offices.

• Day-to-day management of Security Systems. Including: the management and maintenance security policies, device management, and traffic flow analysis.
• Day-to-day management of network firewalls. Including: monitoring of security logs, policies, firewall setup and configuration, traffic analysis; identification and resolution of errors and failures; and coordination of repair services.
• Remote monitoring and support of regional firewalls, and policies.
• Recommend network security policies, management, and procedural changes. • Coordinate services, installation and supplies from external vendors.
• Project management of new firewall, security appliance, and network implementations.
• Ensure the timely maintenance and effective operations of security systems and services.
• Document configuration and support procedures for security equipment and systems. Develop and maintain security policies and best practices guides.
• Provide second-level support to all users on computer migration related issues. Including: data transfer, file conversion, system reconfiguration, and diagnosis of problems.
• Assist in the installation, configuration and testing of new hardware and software.
• Assist in MIS issues related to network security and infrastructure upgrades. This includes: reconfiguring workstation access to optimize security; installation of network monitoring utilities; and the installation and configuration of new network security devices.
• Any other related duties assigned by immediate supervisors and the Technology Manager.

Eligibility

Advanced university degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related field. A first level university degree combined with professional IT certifications may be acceptable in lieu of the advanced university degree.
2 years of increasingly responsible experience in network infrastructure and IT security of a large multinational organization or in a large international corporation.
• Experience in TCP/IP protocols, firewall configuration, infrastructure design and implementation, network routing protocols and configuration, and Ethernet switching. ITIL Certification.
• Thorough understanding of network infrastructure, firewalls, and routing principles and extensive knowledge of current technological developments in these fields.
• Strong analytical skills, ability to supervise staff, ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks.
• Fluency in English.
