International Scholarships at University of Westminster, UK 2012

Deadline: 1 November 2011
Open to: International students
Scholarship: Full tuition fee waivers, accommodation, living expenses and flights to and from London.

These generous awards are aimed at fully funding you if you are from a developing country and will study a full-time Masters degree at the University. Particular preference will be given to you if you can demonstrate how the knowledge you acquire from your studies will aid the development of your own country.

Eligibility

  • You must be an international student from a developing country and hold an offer for a full-time Masters degree.
  • Academic excellence, development potential and financial need.

How to apply

  1. Apply for scholarships only after you have been offered a place (conditional or unconditional) on a course at the University of Westminster.
  2. Please do not apply if you have already enrolled or begun a course of study at the University of Westminster.
  3. Read the information on individual scholarships carefully and ensure that you only apply for ones that you are eligible for and meet the criteria of. For example, do not apply for the Vietnam Scholarship unless you are from Vietnam.
  4. Photocopy the application form at the back of our scholarships brochure or print the form from our website.
  5. Use the same application form when applying for more than one scholarship.
  6. Attach the relevant papers only and keep your supporting documents to a minimum. The quantity of documents sent does not give any advantage.
  7. Attach translations where supporting documents are in any other language but English.
  8. Word process the application as far as possible. If handwriting the application, please ensure it is written clearly and in block letters. Illegible applications will be considered ineligible.
  9. Keep your application concise.
  10. Unless you are applying for a specific scholarship, just say what level of support you require eg, fees only, fees and accommodation etc and the scholarship will be matched to your needs where possible.
  11. Provide a valid email address. The University and its Scholarships Committee is not responsible for opportunities missed because of an invalid email address.
  12. Only send copies of your academic transcript as the university is not able to return any original documentation sent.
  13. It is acceptable for your university to send transcripts directly to the university, but they will not be returned to you.
  14. If, as an international student, you are already in the U.K. please explain why.

  1. Hey, could you please explain me what does it mean: "Apply for scholarships only after you have been offered a place (conditional or unconditional) on a course at the University"

What should I do before sending applications for scholarships?

    1. Dear Anna,

I think it means that you should find a program, contact the people responsible for it and see if you are eligible. If you are they will probably give you a document saying that you can have a place at the course. Then you can apply for the scholarship. This is how it works in other programs and I suppose it is the same with this one. However it is always good to check with the people at the University. Ypou can find their contact details here – http://www.westminster.ac.uk/about/contact-us.

      Kind regards,

      1. Dear Anna,

The scholarship office is different from the admissions office and so are the procedures. What you need to do is to apply to the University on line for admission. the University will evaluate your papers and if you meet all the requirements, you will be given "Unconditional offer" but if some requirements are missing you may be given a "Conditional offer" and you will be required to meet the remaining requirements. These two are admission conditions for you to join the University. Now, it is at this time that you will use the offer you have with a reference number to apply for the scholarship. That is exactly what it means.

I cannot read anywhere that there is an age limitation for the scholarships, but to be on the safe side I would advise you to direct all of your questions and concerns to the University, seeing as they are the ones that are giving the scholarships.

  4. Dear

I wish to know if there is a different deadline for application of international scholarships for 2012 because, I came across a deadline of February 2012

    Please help me

    1. Dear Collins Mukhala,

Apparently this post is for the "January 2012 scholarships", the deadline for which has expired on November the 1st 2011, but on the official website, as you have noticed yourself, there are more scholarships that the University of Westminster is offering. There are both undergraduate and post-graduate scholarships available, the deadline for which seems to be May 31st 2012. I would suggest you search among them to see which would be more appropriate for you.

      Kind regards

  5. Hello

i am inquiring if my referees will need to provide information pertaining to my interest in a postgraduate course during the online application.i am also stuck with the UKPASS online form where i cant move to the next section because i am supposed to indicate the year, month and date i first stepped in the UK yet i havent.

  6. I am an ex-serviceman and hold an honours degree in Linguistics. Also, I have worked for the European Union Election Observation in the 2007 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in Sierra Leone as Security Assistant. Currently, I am working with Private Security Company in Iraq (from December 2009-present). Given all these detals, am I eligible to pursue the masters programme in Internationl Relations and Security?

    1. Dear James,

That is not the kind of question that I am competent to reply, seeing as Mladiinfo is not the provider of the scholarships, and we do not determine the rules of admission. You might want to inquire with the University about this.

      Kind regards
